The year was 1994, I was all of 6 years old an inquisitive kid with a love for toys and computers. I’d seen computers and they fascinated me, father had said, “they take away Jobs.” Well, I thought I’d seen something that was a computer and understood what they did. Until I saw this weird yet beautiful machine, Apple II. At that point of time I did not know/realize what it was…
Out for a dinner with my parents… The reason I went without a tantrum was because mother had told me that they had a computer, True story. What she forgot to mention was that the couple even had a cute daughter… As our parents talked about boring things in the living room. The resident of the house, 11-year-old (cutest) girl took me to her room to see ‘her’ computer.
She enquired, “Have you used a computer before?” Insulted, I spat, “Yes!” With a smirk and twinkle in her eyes she replied, “Well then, it’s all yours.” During the course of the next 30 minutes all I did was look into her eyes as she taught me how to use ‘computers’. I was in love, rather still am but do not remember who she was… But, I remember the Apple II. It had games! GAMES! I played one for 20 minutes in which I’d to save the cat from mean dogs and humans, Oo! fun it was.
Year 1996, To Infinity and Beyond… Buzz Lightyear. I was an imaginative kid and always had some weird stories to tell my folks. So much so, that they thought that I might need professional help. Toy Story took me to just yet another level of imagination… Toys that interact when you’re asleep… Sweet kernel of Universe! I’d sleepless nights thinking that they’d moved as I slept. Waking up in the middle of night to check up on them but alas nothing ever happened.
Fast-Forward to 2009 – toughest year of my life. Everything around me was falling apart… Fresh out of college, dad had expired, loved a girl but couldn’t understand her, friends were moving apart – Utter Chaos!
During the course of this time, I come across the Stanford Speech by Mr. Jobs. watch Inspired, rejuvenated, full of energy – I said to myself. Hey, if that dude fought his way through – So will I! And I’ve been fighting and today I am a much happier person.
Directly or indirectly now I’ve come to know that Mr. Steve Jobs has been around since I started with technology. He was an influence and will always remain one – I’ll be happy to tell the generations to come that you know I saw his keynotes and his charm & suave.
He fought a long battle with cancer and saw some of the most troubled times that a person can see. He lived for a passion and never for money… His inspiration was perfection and never the marketing strategy. He did not sell but convinced himself of it.
To me, he remains the best teacher and mentor that I’ll ever have.
On October 5th 2011, Mr. Steve Jobs was no more. I’d been part of history yet again when a true legend and a personal favorite was no more.

I love his Standford Commencement speech, too. It inspires me, at the darkest hours.
May Jobs RIP!
